All the info to get going on presenting a musical at school. Whether you are an old stage hand or have never directed a musical before, you should find something new in this session. Guidance for choosing materials will be presented also. Possible previewing musicals from multiple publishers.

I will monitor open discussion on topics chosen by the teachers present dealing with the general music classroom/ elementary chorus. Possible solutions to various problems will be addressed.

This is an opportunity to explore some new ideas for those ugly brown boards that greet us each fall. No creativity required; just an adventurous mind. Twenty-five years of teaching music and well over a hundred boards later, Jean Perry hopes you will come away with more than a few good ideas for the walls of your classroom.

Teaching the basics for a strong foundation of music literacy is the bottom line of this session. Materials will be presented from “Games That Teach: Rhythm Reading Skills” and "Musical Games for the Musically Minded".

I’ve got those “colored tubes”. Now what do I do with them? 
Boomwhackers...the latest fad in music education....how to use them to maximize the amount of music education in your classroom. For this session, there needs to be a minimum of five sets of diatonic boomwhackers and two sets of boomwhacker octavator caps.

Vocal Techniques for General Music
The general music teacher wears many hats. One of these which we sometimes ignore is our "voice teacher" hat. Jean Perry will share some of her ideas on helping children learn how to sing correctly during their general music class period(can use a dozen students for demonstration purposes).
